NIFF was proud to attend the opening of the State Highway 2 and Ōmokoroa Road intersection upgrades, hosted by Western Bay of Plenty District Council on 22 August 2026.
This achievement marks the completion of two significant infrastructure projects that are helping unlock future housing growth, improve safety, and support thriving communities, schools, and local businesses across the region.
Through the Infrastructure Reference Group (IRG) Fund and the Infrastructure Acceleration Fund (IAF), more than $50 million in Crown funding helped bring these projects to life, alongside substantial contributions from Western Bay of Plenty District Council, NZTA, and other partners.
The completed works include upgraded intersections, urbanised road corridors, and new transport infrastructure designed to support the rapid growth of the Ōmokoroa peninsula. Together, these investments address existing safety and capacity challenges while enabling thousands of future homes and supporting long-term economic development.
NIFF is proud to have administered both funds and supported the successful delivery of these projects. Congratulations to Western Bay of Plenty District Council and all delivery partners whose collaboration made it possible to deliver this essential infrastructure for the growing community.
