The programme provides fast broadband to the greatest number of under-served rural homes and businesses within the funding available, and contribute towards achieving similar rates of access to fast broadband by rural homes and businesses across all regions of New Zealand.

A large number of the rural mobile towers remaining to be built are in increasingly difficult locations and in regions affected by the 2023 weather events. NIFF has continued to fund and manage delivery of these towers in support of rural connectivity, resilience and safety.
